Madam Raven
(originally known as Lady Ravenna many centuries ago) was a leader of a band of gypsies that
roamed the earth performing amusements for money. One unfortunate day they entered a damned city
and were captured by the four madmen in power. The madmen were dabblers in the arcane arts and
had devised a plan to usher in a new age by binding four gods to do their bidding. They tortured
Ravenna and the gypsies and demanded the secret knowledge of binding from her.
In order to save her people, Ravenna made a deal with the doomed men. She
would reveal the word of binding only if her people could go free. Immediately after Ravenna
complied, they betrayed her and tied her to a stake outside. As the ceremony began, hungry
ravens plucked Ravenna's eyes out. When the four madmen finally sealed their pact, the
Four-Who-Are-One appeared and punished them by destroying the city. Ravenna had not helped the
four madmen, but instead tricked them into their own damnation. Over the din of destruction,
Ravenna chanted her own words of binding over and over again. To save her people at a terrible
cost, she bound them into the service of The Elder forever. She has been the fortune teller of
the circus ever since, having gained inner vision after losing her eyesight. Over the years,
many troubled souls have been drawn to the circus to have their secrets told and fortunes
revealed by Madam Raven.
